Testimonials on Training Workshops
Outstanding. Steve makes it all look easy, which is a sign of a great teacher.
Frank Louvis, Software/Web Development, NJIt is a pleasure and privilege to be taught by a rare individual like Steve Cotter. Excellent practitioner and instructor. CAN DO and CAN TEACH! I honestly don't know how this could be improved upon, other than to make it two days instead of one. As a one day "stand alone" it seems perfect.
Edward "Cayenne" Friedman, Attorney, Long Island, NYThe knowledge and quality of Steve's presentation is excellent. Steve not only can explain all of the techniques, he can perform all of them with perfect form.
Jim Milkowski, Owner, The Training Room, Avon, MJSteve's knowledge is obvious due to his ease of explaining drills, benefits, and alternatives. His enthusiasm is contagious!
J.S., Secret Service, VirginiaSteve is a great instructor; I can't wait until his video series comes out.
Greg Killian, Full Contact/BJJ Fighter, NJThe information was detailed and high quality; discussed possible errors and how to address; relaxed and positive environment.
Pat Cuntrera, Teacher/Trainer, NJSteve Cotter combines the best of the Martial Arts and Kettlebell worlds into a powerful and unique learning experience that is suitable to just about anyone with the desire to learn about how to unlock the potential of their bodies. Not only did my FiancÉ and I receive detailed fine-tuning and critique of basic kettlebell drills, we learned unique variations that created greater strength challenges while focusing on balance, breathing, and tension. Not just what to do, but how, when, and why.
Anyone at any level of skill that participates in any sport short of Fantasy Football would greatly benefit from training with Steve. If you live in the San Diego area, train with Steve once, and you will want to train with and learn from Steve every chance you get.
Jim HainesThe bottom line is this: I have improved my knowledge infinitely with kettlebell training, along with learning invaluable techniques for rehab, prehab and recovery. You're a class act and so was your workshop! Anyone who is an athlete, trains athletes, or wants to get in shape for general fitness should attend your workshops. You made it work for all of us and I can not imagine a group more diverse than ours!
Zach Even — EshSteve is an excellent instructor — great analysis, form and content. I found that with the correct form, I could do things that I couldn't before, which gave me a great sense of accomplishment.
Brewster Righter, Semi-retired, Long Island, NYI enjoyed the seminar very much. Steve is an excellent trainer and manages to reach different levels of students easily. As a beginner this was just what I needed.
Stephen White, Chef, Long Island, NYYour teaching style really allowed me to gain confidence with each new exercise, which allowed me to really try new things.
Father Thomas Weise, Roman Catholic Priest, Juneau, AlaskaThe Full KOntact Kettlebells program provided me with a new form of training discipline.
Grey Nguyen, Personal Trainer, Long Beach, CAFull KOntact Kettlebells filled in the gaps in my kettlebell knowledge. I cannot think of a better way to spend my money.
Ellis Jones, Salesman/Martial Artist, San Diego, CAThe course was excellent. It helped to have it explained how the components of the exercise fit together and which body parts involved. I feel like I was learning why to do things a particular way and not just how.
Katie Zeigler, Youth Ministry Coordinator, Los Angeles, CAThe teaching approach was great! A lot of detail and a lot of interaction with the other students. I learned a lot about teaching. Thanks!
Ming Lau, Martial Artist, San Diego, CASteve is an excellent instructor with a passion for fitness. Very knowledgeable about movement and its effects on the body.
Scott. G., Police officer, Escondido, CAThis is one of the best workshops I've ever attended. Steve is very knowledgeable and explains things very clearly. If a student does not understand he will find another way to explain it.
Mike. F., Santee, CASteve, you are a great teacher. You have a wealth of knowledge that you share in meaningful ways.
Jeff Fancy, Middle School Teacher, Coronado, CAExcellent instructor. This was my second time working with Steve, covering the same material and I still learned a lot of new things. Steve is able to present complex topics in an easy to understand manner.
Jeff Brokob, Poway, CA, consultantTerrific Seminar with Steve Cotter, this Sunday!
The day after our GS meet — I was hurting when I came in — Mr. Cotter soon had me loosened up and feeling great... then he came and put the hurt back on!! I learned an incredible amount — he has great technical explanations, tips etc. for the lifts — knows many variations and their uses... he did a great job of showing what kind of kettlebell work can be useful for martial artists. So, here's some new things I accomplished that I had never tried before:
- Windmills for reps with 32 kg
- Multiple sets of 5 with the 2 x 32kg front squat
- Extended double windmill on 2-inch blocks
- Extended one-arm windmill with the 24kg — palm to the floor
- 1-arm OH squat with the 40 kg
And here's one that I had tried to do before, and failed: 2 reps on weak side 32kg military press-strict. Mr. Cotter did a terrific job of showing us how to engage the lat in the Russian press.
Plus we got to do stretching, and learn some of the drills that are on Steve's Full KOntact Kettlebells DVD.
fajingI, too, would like to thank Steve for a great learning experience. I actually felt better after I left than when I got there. I was a little bit stiff after the GS meet. I think the workshop actually loosened me up. Now today is a different story; it hurts to walk. Time to take a few days off and start to get ready for Nashville.
dkallasIf anyone gets the opportunity, attend one of Steve's seminars or train with him personally. Steve took the KB fundamentals and layered his instruction in a very clear, logical & concise manner, until I think everyone there had successfully attempted something they had previously considered "impossible"... or at least "improbable". I think I can speak for all attendees when I state that Steve's strength, flexibility & general athleticism were quite startling... more importantly, he's an excellent teacher...
BarelySaneYour martial arts application with the KB's was awesome. I did the cleaned front thrust kicks this morning, but with different weight bells for emphasis on balance and stability. Thanks for your help there, and if I'm ever in your neck of the woods, I'd love to train in some Hsing-I with you! Thanks again. Your seminar was awesome! As Barry put it, it really demonstrated some of my weaknesses!
Nick RadonjicThe day after the Chicago GS competition, Steve Cotter conducted a workshop. If you have a chance to take Steve's workshop I encourage doing so. It is outstanding! This much KB fun in one weekend almost seems wrong.
Steve covers the finer points of the basic swings and lifts and moves into some great dynamic presses and other drills geared towards MA. Even as someone not practicing any MA I found these drills to be fun and challenging.
Steve's teaching style is clear and concise. He keeps the class moving at a brisk pace, but he's willing to spend time clarifying things and making sure everyone understands the drills. I came away with some new cool things to work on and a killer stretch for my mid back. All in all I would do it again. Maybe not right after competing in a GS comp, but I would do it again.
Thanks to the Edens Athletic Club and Stephen Troy for hosting the event and thanks to Steve for the pain!
FrankOutstanding! Presentation was friendly and relaxed. Everyone got specific instruction.
Franklin Pearce, Personal Trainer, ChicagoSteve provides excellent instruction, particularly in the ability to provide different types of explanations based on the abilities and comprehension of the specific student. Steve is a great resource, and I wish he lived closer. I'd love to tap his brain on more martial art based concerns.
Barry Crain, Graphic Artist, Chicago, ILSteve is obviously very well educated in kettlebells along with martial arts. Steve provided a very well organized workshop and I look forward to seeing Steve the next time he comes to the Chicagoland area.
Eric Rada, Surgical TechSteve is very knowledgeable. He can definitely "walk the walk".
Dave Kallas, Chicago, Electrician by day, KB Trainer by nightThe quality of training was excellent! I've been using KBs for 2 years and a whole new world has opened up. The knowledge provided was some of the best I've received in a long time.
Christine Uberti, Clinical Research Project Manager, NYExtremely creative! Just when you think you've done all you could with a KB you come up with many more ideas. It does mix things up and even encourages one to think of things oneself.
Lorraine Patten, Dentist, NYThe quality of training was superb! You are a most excellent instructor, and have a great way of breaking down the exercises into steps that are easy to learn even for someone who has never taken martial arts.
Lisa Shaffer, Kettlebell Instructor, VirginiaThe quality of training and knowledge was excellent. Steve's depth of knowledge enables him to improvise an exercise to apply a generic exercise to a specific application.
John Starego, Software Development, N. VirginiaSteve has a helpful and friendly manner to go along with his training knowledge and ability to relay vital information. What an amazing array of skills. Superb instruction — a very information dense class.
Steve Bott, VirginiaSteve is a very knowledgeable and gifted teacher, who adapted his vast knowledge to each member of the class. He was clear, concise and made excellent points.
