Slowly coming back
I wrote a blog a few weeks back mentioning it was time to begin getting my legs back in good shape. My spring is starting to come back a little at a time. Training has not been daily, but a general upward trend which I will ride as long as I can. Most likely my next overseas trip will put a crimp in my progress, but I have another month before any big trips.
I have gradually been building my strength and conditoning up. Tonight I did 1 set of 120 one leg squats (pistols), 60 each leg with no break in between. I took my time and did it in 8:00 — 4:00 per leg for an average of 15rpm.
Rules are that the front (non-weighted) leg must be held out in front and can never touch the ground, the only way to get a ‘rest’ is by locking out the support leg at the top of each rep.
As I mentioned previously, my goal with this is to pass 200 in 1 set, 100 each leg. To be able to do that in 10:00 is a good goal and will leave me in good position for any serious training. At my current rate, it will take me until sometime in April, maybe sooner if I increase my frequency of practice. So far, it has been about 1-2x per week for the one leg squat, just 1 set in any given session.
A few months of this coupled with BB Jump Squats will give me the strengthe and endurance I like.
